Margene M. (Illg) Duffy, of Shoreview, Minn., formerly of St. Joe, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2018. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the Mass at the Church on Saturday. Inurnment will be next to her father at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe.
Margene M. Duffy was born Jan. 3, 1963, in Algona, daughter of Harold and Phyllis (Arndorfer) Illg. She grew up on a farm near St. Jose graduating from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1981. She then graduated from American Institute of Business in Des Moines. Margene was married to Jim Duffy in 1983, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe.
Margene worked as a human resources specialist at Cummins Corporation for the past 30 years. She was active in both her community and in church activities. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking and spending time with friends and family especially her daughter Elizabeth.
Preceded in death by her father, Harold Illg in 1977; her grandparents, Art and Rosalia Illg and Herb and Marie Arndorfer; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Duffy of Shoreview, Minn.; her mother, Phyllis Illg of Algona; four brothers, Steven (Linda) Illg of Dakota City, David (Susan) Illg of Apex, N.C., Robert (Shirley) Illg of Farmersville, Texas, and Richard (Julie) Illg of Algona; nine nieces and nephews, Brandon, Tanner and Tate Illg, Lexa (Brad) Holmes, Jordan and Trey Illg, and Tayler, Madison, and Meredith Illg; and many other relatives and friends.
