Delores Boettcher

Lead Summary

Aug. 15, 1934 — April 15, 2018

Delores Jean Boettcher, the daughter of Norman and Esther (Christian) Finnestad was born Aug. 25, 1934, on a farm near Fenton. She passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Lakeside Lutheran Home at her assisted living apartment in Emmetsburg, at the age of 83.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m., at Lotts Immanuel Lutheran Church, in rural Lone Rock, with the Rev. Thomas Cowell officiating. She was laid to rest at Lotts Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
Delores was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. She received her education and graduated from Fenton High School. She then attended Beauty School in Des Moines, Iowa.
On Aug. 8, 1954, she married Wayne Boettcher. The couple moved to a farm south of Fenton in 1958, and farmed, raised milk cows, cattle, hogs, chickens, and even some sheep. They moved in 1965 to the home place near Lotts Creek and continued farming. They retired from farming in 2005. During and after their retirement, they spent several weeks at Basket Lake Camp, Ontario, fishing with family and enjoying the company of friends they met up there. This family tradition of going to Canada for a fishing trip still lives on today.
Later in life they spent their summers at Hobo Park in Starbuck, Minn. Again they enjoyed fishing and the company of their many Starbuck friends. Her greatest pride was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lotts Creek where she taught Sunday School and was active in LWML.
Delores is survived by her children, Sherri (DuWayne) Luedtke of Lone Rock; Dan (Peggy) Boettcher of Brimfield, Ill.; Lynette (Fay) Preston of Armstrong; Bruce Boettcher of Des Moines; and Mike (Judy) Boettcher of Fenton; grandchildren, Mandi (Jeremy) Holcomb; Dana Luedtke; Tera (Ben) Heyer; Chad (Tifani) Boettcher; Amy (Jeff) Sinder; Molly (Michael) Gilles; Jesse (Heather) Preston; Joel (Krisi) Preston; Paula (Tom) Ricke; Kelsey (Chris) Heffelfinger; Kaitlin Boettcher; Dalton (Stefanie) Boettcher; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Mueller and Marilyn Neary; brother, Craig Finnestad; special friends, David and Bev Berkland and several nieces and nephews.
