Height is one of the things you cannot coach in the game of basketball and the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys’ basketball team used it to their full advantage in a 70-52 non-conference victory over cross-town Algona in a game played at Bishop Garrigan on Thursday, Dec. 21.
In front of crowded gym that was standing-room only, the black-and-gold out-rebounded the red-and-black 45-20 to overcome the 27 turnovers the black-and-gold squad committed against Bulldogs’ quick, hustling defense.
“It was a great atmosphere for a high school basketball game,” said Bishop Garrigan Head Coach Harry Condoleon. “There was great support on both sides of gym and fans were very loud. I thought our boys came out ready to play and it was a lot of fun.
