Funeral Mass for Ann King will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a scripture prayer service at 7 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services.
Ann Marie King was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Lott’s Creek Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. Ann was the daughter of Leo Kollasch and Marguerite O’Brien. She attended country school and graduated from Presentation Academy in Whittemore, Iowa, in 1950. She then attended St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Dodge graduating in 1953 with a degree of Registered Nurse.              
Ann married Joseph T. King on Dec. 29, 1953. She was employed as a nurse in the office of Dr. John Schutter in Algona. She also farmed alongside her husband in Union Township for 62 years. She was a homemaker and mother to four children.  Teresa (Mark) Bollig, Patricia (Bill) Kollasch, Chuck (Ann) King and Larry (Dorey and Lakeisha) King.
She went on to work at the Good Samaritan Center, taking great care in providing for the needs of the residents. Ann was an excellent cook and later enjoyed being the Kitchen Cook at the Algona Sale Barn. She delighted in preparing and serving delicious meals and desserts. Ann was a member of St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church.  She belonged to the New Dimension, funeral choir, and was a circle leader for funeral dinners and volunteered at the Church Fair Stand.  Along with her talent for cooking Ann also produced a bountiful garden. Her children, family, neighbors and friends all enjoyed the fruits of her labor.  
Ann died Monday Sept. 26, 2016, at Kossuth Regional Health Center. She passed away after a brief battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Her faith and family filled her last days.                                                                                                                      
She is survived by her husband, Joe; three children and their spouses, Teresa (Mark) Bollig; Patricia (Bill) Kollasch; Charles (Ann) King; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: siblings, Mark (Helen) Kollasch; Eileen (Maurice) Bormann; Carol (Pat) Mergen and sister-in-law, Judy Kollasch along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Larry in 1993, brother, Joe and sister, Katie. She was a beloved wife, Mother, sister, friend, neighbor and role model to many. She will be greatly missed but leaves a legacy of care and love that knows no end.
