Justin and Erin (Eisenman) Kuecker of Algona announce the birth of their son, Oliver Randall, on April 13, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. He weighed 8 pounds, 1.3 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.
Oliver is welcomed home by brothers, Maxton and Leo and a sister, Ella.
Maternal grandparents are Mark and Darcy Eisenman of Britt. Paternal grandparents are Randy and Theresa Kuecker of Algona.
ALGONA—Oak Street in Algona was closed from Diagonal Street to Roan Street on Tuesday, April 25 for tree removal. The street will remain closed until the work is completed.
The City of Algona is working through a proactive, large-scale ash tree removal project this spring to mitigate the Emerald Ash Borer. Approximately 100 trees are anticipated to be removed this year, and additional trees may be treated.
ALGONA—Howard Lacey was honored last week when he was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award for his dedication at the Good Samaritan Society. Lacey stood out among hundreds of nominations from more than 200 Good Samaritan facilities throughout the United States.

Vendor registration proceeds donated back to community

WHITTEMORE—The annual vendor show in Whittemore is expanding locations and has a new name in 2023. The Whittemore Spring Market to Market Vendor Show is set for Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three different locations in Whittemore.
A Visit From A Civil War Soldier program will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m., at the Bode Community Center. The Bode Public Library received funding from Humanities Iowa, a private, non-profit, to host the presentation and refreshments will be served.
WEST BEND—The NEW Cooperative Foundation recently presented a check totaling $2,500 to the City of West Bend for their swimming pool splash pad project. NEW Cooperative Communications Director Gary Moritz, and NEW West Bend Location Manager Chris Montag were on hand for the presentation.
The FCCLA group traveled to Cedar Rapids for a state leadership conference from Sunday, March 26, to Tuesday, March 28. The theme for the conference this year was Shine a Light, for mental health awareness month. The members who attended this conference were Maggie Wartick, Sydney Seebecker, Abby Brooks, Paige Vileta, Ashley Cantu, Katelyn Burns, Caitlin Louscher, Lainey Venteicher and Hillary Holmes.
