Verlaine Boehm of Buffalo Center and Richard Faber of Algona were married on November 24, 1973 in Algona. They resided in Algona for several years before moving to Ogden where they raised their three kids.

Santa Claus arrives Friday

ALGONA—Santa Claus has notified the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce he will be arriving by fire truck to Algona on Friday, Nov. 24. He will visit with children and families from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the lobby of the State 5 Theatre. On Saturday, Nov. 25 he will be at the theatre again for visits from 1-2:30 p.m.

ALGONA—CliftonLarsonAllen LLP has released an audit report on Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona

The health center’s revenues totaled $46,888,698 for the year ended June 30, 2023, an 3.11 percent increase from the prior year. The revenues included $38,143,861 in net patient service revenue, $5,089,940 of other operating revenue, $976,718 of non-capital contributions and grants, and $2,678,179 in other nonoperating revenues.

Kiwanis Christmasland prepares to open in Humboldt

 

HUMBOLDT—Christmasland in Humboldt will open for the holiday season Friday, Nov. 24. This marks the 41st year of this popular holiday attraction sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Kiwanis Club. It has been visited by more than 160,000 people since its opening in 1981.

For 2023, there will be new things to see both inside and out. There is a new inflatable display and new lights and displays outside the building.

Display of Santas, Bake Sale

The Kossuth County Historical Society will host a Santa is Coming to Town display at the museum on Monday, Nov. 27 from 6:30-8 p.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 28 and Thurs., Nov. 30 from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2. from 1-4 p.m. They will also host a bake sale and have free apple cider from 4-8 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Building in Algona on Monday, Nov. 27.

Bears Are Golden - Bishop Garrigan Wears the Iowa 8-Man Football Championship Crown

CEDAR FALLS—Bishop Garrigan held off late rallies by Bedford and claimed the 8-Man State Football Championship Thursday morning at the UNI-Dome with a 39-30 victory.

Led by 191 yards in total offense from Tate Foertsch, the Golden Bears held a 16-14 halftime edge and a 31-14 lead in the fourth quarter they never surrendered, though Bedford stayed in hot pursuit.

Basketball plus Veteran's Day experiences at Twin Rivers Elementary

BODE—Twin Rivers Elementary School embarked on another whirlwind week packed with unforgettable experiences and a heartfelt tribute to our heroes for Veterans Day. The action kicked off on Nov. 6 as our kindergarten through 5th grade students traveled to Ames to watch the Iowa State Women's Basketball team take on the Butler Bulldogs. The Cyclones finished the game with a victory, defeating the Bulldogs 82-55. The students truly enjoyed the opportunity to attend a college basketball game.
