It's maple syrup season at Kossuth County Conservation
Spring. It never used to be my favorite season. Growing up, I always liked fall. I enjoyed the colors, the smell of leaf piles and cooling temperatures.
But, as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate spring. I've learned to recognize the birds and the wildflowers that return annually. I love tracking spring phenology and comparing it to previous years.
Watching nature come alive despite the harshness of winters shows an unmatched resiliency that I respect. But, what truly fueled my love for spring began 10 springs ago when I spent my first season of renewal here in Kossuth County.
